Greenspoon Marder Diversity Initiative
The Greenspoon Marder Scholar
The Greenspoon Marder Scholar initiative provides financial assistance to women and minority populations that are traditionally underrepresented in the legal profession. To be eligible, students must be in their second and third years at an accredited Florida law school.
The scholarship program awards $2,500 to a second-year law student for the Spring semester and may be renewable for an additional $2,500 for the following Fall semester (for a total of $5,000 during the student’s law school career), if the student reapplies for the scholarship; achieves satisfactory academic performance; applies for admission to The Florida Bar; is otherwise eligible; and funding is available. Additional considerations may include the applicant's financial need; personal, family, and educational background; personal statement; and participation in community service activities.
Successful second-year applicants will also be granted an opportunity to interview for the Greenspoon Marder Summer Associate Internship Program.
Members of the Greenspoon Marder Diversity Committee will select the scholarship recipient, subject to final approval by The Community Foundation of Sarasota County, Inc., which administers the scholarship. All decisions are final.
The deadline for submission of applications is August 1st of each year. Applicants must complete all portions of the application. However, financial information for the applicant and his or her parents is optional and need only be completed if the applicant wishes to have financial need considered. Applications must be postmarked no later than August 1st. Faxed applications will not be accepted.
